The following is written by club President Greg Diehl with revisions for clarity by Regina Holliday:
Fellow Rotarians,
Thanks for the great meeting attendance lately. I have a
lot of information to get into the news this week news.
Here we go!
-Christmas party at Penn Alps on 12/17/13. Ingrid’s group,
Mercy Rains, will provide the entertainment. The cost will be
$15/person
-No meeting on 12/24/13 or 12/31/13
-3rd grade dictionaries. 122 needed for MD and 24 for PA. 7
cases will be ordered for a total of 146 available.
-Christmas project will be delivered on 12/14/13. We have
27 families vs 38 last year and 21 seniors vs 50 last year.
Distribution will be at Diehl’s Ford and Joe will need a little
extra assistance this year.
-Daryle Walters from the Oakland club will attend our
meeting on 11/19 to discuss the Christmas project with us.
We have a committee to plan a Bingo fundraiser for later this
year. The committee is made up of Vivian, April, Linda,
Regina, Leah and Lisa. The date has been set for December
3rd and the location will be the Grantsville Elementary School
cafeteria. We will begin setting up at 4pm and the doors will
open for vendor sales at 5pm and games will begin at 6pm.
Vivian has tickets available for every member. Please get
yours from her and sell them for $20 before the event so you
can save your friends money rather than make them pay $25
at the door. Several vendors have been secured to donate
prizes and set a display table up at the event. If you know
any potential vendors, please contact one of the committee
members. They will report back to the group as more details
are finalized. Every member is expected to help with this
fundraiser in some manner, just like all of our fundraisers.
We really need you to step up and sell some tickets for this
event so the committee knows how many supplies are
needed and we can make sure we will have enough people
attending to be successful. A raffle has been added for $744
worth of Coach bags for $5 each or 5 for $20, I think. Please
do your part to sell these too.
If you know of any future projects that we should be doing to
help our community, please let me know. We are always
interested in new ways that we can assist groups and
individuals in our local area. Also, please get in touch with
me with any ideas on how we can improve our group with
fund raisers, community projects, potential new members
and any other related issues. Thank you for everything you
do to make our meetings enjoyable and our group such a
wonderful part of our community.
See you next Tuesday.
